Kaycee Sogard, Cordially, Kaycee

Kaycee Sogard is the super cool blogger behind Cordially, Kaycee. I first learned of her blog through Instagram and couldn't help but become obsessed with updates on her life as a mom, wife, and overall fab person. She always seems to juggle everything and have fun along the way.

When I learned that Kaycee is married to Milwaukee Brewer Eric Sogard and that they split their time between Wisconsin and Arizona, I knew I wanted to chat with her about her thoughts on the Midwest. Find out her perspective and learn all about her life as a blogger.

My Midwest Is Showing: When did you launch Cordially, Kaycee, and what inspired you to do so?

Kaycee Sogard: Cordially, Kaycee launched at the end of 2015. I had dipped my toes in the water of this crazy blogging world before, but launching CK was my way of really diving in head first and committing myself to sharing all of the things I loved. I have always loved writing, and I love being able to share all of the things that inspire me. Whether it’s style, a new favorite product, or just sharing a family vacation, I really wanted my blog to be a place where people could relate and find something in common with me.

MMWIS: What is your favorite part of the blogging world?

KS: I love, love LOVE being able to “meet” people on social media, and get to know them. I have actually made a handful of really good friends through Instagram, and it’s so fun being able to find creative people that you really connect with! One of my other favorite things is working with smaller brands, especially ones run by moms, to help spread the word. I love sharing hardworking mamas who are out there grinding to help support their families!

MMWIS: What advice do you have for someone who wants to start their own blog?

KS: Do it! If it’s something you’re passionate about, and you enjoy doing, then definitely go for it. Write about what you love, and share your voice. It’s so easy to get sucked into what everyone else is sharing and writing about, but for me it’s so important to stay true to who you are. Also, learn to take great pics!

MMWIS: How would you describe your personal style?

KS: I try to avoid calling my style boring, soooo instead let’s go with “basic" ;) I love finding ways to make a basic staple outfit, something like jeans and a white tee, feel chic. I’m all about neutrals and even my 3-year old knows my favorite color is black, haha. You will rarely catch me wearing bright colors, but there’s nothing I love more than a bright red lip!

MMWIS: What are your favorite places to shop in Wisconsin?

KS: We have a crazy travel schedule, so I haven’t had much time to get out and explore many local places, but I love all of the basics…Nordstrom, Anthropologie, and of course Target (obviously)!

MMWIS: You spend part of the year in Wisconsin, and the other part in Arizona – what are the biggest differences between the two places?

KS: The heat! Without a doubt. 118 degrees is just plain hot, but you definitely don’t get the humidity like you do here. And don’t tell my AZ people this, but everyone is way more friendly in Wisconsin ;)

MMWIS: Are you from the Midwest originally? If not, when did you move here, and what were your first impressions?

KS: I was born in Arizona, grew up in Oregon, and moved back to AZ for college. This is the first time we’ve lived in the Midwest, and we have only been here since the end of May! I FREAKING LOVE IT! Everyone is so nice, it’s beautiful, and of course the weather has been great (I know, I know, the winters suck). I love that Milwaukee feels like a little big city.

MMWIS: Your husband is Milwaukee Brewer Eric Sogard – what's the best part of being a baseball wife? Worst part?

KS: Best part? Getting to watch my husband live his dream, and being able to travel all over the place while doing it! Worst part…all of the time we’re forced to spend apart during baseball season, and seeing how much the kids miss their dad.

MMWIS: How do you juggle being a baseball wife, a mom to two young children, and a blogger?

KS: Like a boss. KIDDING! I’m sure most moms can relate when I say I’m literally just trying to keep everyone alive and happy, haha! I do a lot of emailing/blogging at nap time and at night. My kids are a huge part of my social media, so that part is easy. I’m always taking pictures of them and documenting our lives. We’re always traveling, so that does make it a little more difficult, but somehow I make it work!

MMWIS: What are you currently reading? Watching? Listening to?

KS: Currently reading: Chicka Chicka Boom BoomCurrently watching: Daniel TigerCurrently listening to: "Can’t Stop the Feeling" - JT from the Trolls soundtrack.

MMWIS: If someone was visiting Wisconsin for the first time, what would you tell them to do first?

KS: The other day we went to Apple Holler and it has been our favorite thing so far! We rode the train and picked apples in their giant orchards, fed the goats and chicken, and had the best lunch and desserts! Such a fun day, and is great for families, or a super fun date!

MMWIS: Favorite thing about the Midwest?

KS: The people. Definitely the people! Everyone is so kind and welcoming, and everyone has made this feel like home for us from the day we arrived.

MMWIS: How does your Midwest show through your personality and/or what you do?

KS: Have I mentioned how I love the people here? One thing I really focus on in my life, is loving others and being genuinely kind and caring to those around me. Although I’m not from here originally, the sincerity of people here in the Midwest has stood out to me, and I hope that I can emulate that same sense of love!
